I have two computers that evidently were automatically 'upgraded' recently with what appears to be possibly a pre-release Beta version of AVG Free that perhaps had not been thoroughly evaluated for functionality or stability in its current form and as evidenced by other posts in this forum, I may not be the only one, as problems I've had are common to other ones I have read here.
I've been a long time user of AVG and it's worked well in all previous incarnations without issue, but in the current form of the recent unintended install of AVG 2017, I am seriously doubting its ability to effectively protect my computer if the coding can't handle quarantining and restoring of a file properly, plus given the fact the quarantined files it flagged had been on my system close to 8 years and been subject to scans by other strong antivirus/malware programs. Fortunately I had the files backed up elsewhere as they were unrecoverable within AVG 2017. Too many other features seem to have been dropped as well, such as 'Reports' for example which were useful for troubleshooting. The recommended AVG 'Removal' tool proved to be failure also and I had to resort to a different method to remove what I thought was a bad install AVG 2017 to attempt a re-install of the program which also mal-functioned similarly.
For the time being I've gone to another reputable antivirus software. If and when you complete the Beta testing of AVG 2017 I may consider returning. Thanks for all the good years of previous versions.
