I read a message from a family friend in Facebook. It was a video titled 'is this you?'. I clicked on the play button and got a page saying that I need a patch to play this video in Chrome. I clicked on download and installed the patch. Yes, I know but it was early in the morning.
It did not help showing the video but intermittently when I click on a favourite link I get this page saying my Norton protection needs resubscribing. I have never used Norton. I can deselect this page and carry on with no apparent problems. So far this page pops up annoyingly at fairly intermittentintervals and rates as mildly annoying but I'm worried that something else might be going on. I have uninstalled Chrome and downloaded a fresh one from their website but the problem persists. I have run all my AVG protection suites but no 'virus' found. Any thoughts?
Hi Malcolm,
We will check that for you.
Could you share us the screenshot of that pop up?

You can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.
This all kicked off when I installed a patch purporting to enhance the playing of the 'errant' video. The patch looked like an add on to Chrome.
Will I find the patch in Chrome directory? Is there a 'last installed list' in the PC.
Is it worth doing a system restore?
Thank you for sharing the screenshot.
Could you check if a new software (probably a potentially unwanted program) installed on your PC?
If yes, uninstall it, restart the PC and verify the issue.
