I was searching for this option, and found out they have fixed it. In the option menu under Popups they now have a option to cancel the popups for other AVG products.
There is no need to use any avg download program to remove avg issues, as Mr./Ms. Balasubramanian's answer would have you believe. On any Windows machine, click "control panel" and click on either "programs and files" or, on earlier machines, "add or remove". Click on "AVG Protection" and, if asked, clcik on "uninstall." If you have multiple AVG programs on your computer (and you likely will…even if you, yourslef, didn't install them!), you must remvoe "AVG Protection" first. Then restart your computer. Repeat the above for all other programs with the word "AVG" init. This is the only way to get this crap to stop. Now download a dofferemt amt-virus program. We've been real happy with "Super Antispyware." Rare popups. Works well. The free version has to be run manually. We run ours every other day. It runs quickly. For all Windows 7 and above, you can't beat "Windows Defender" which auto updates, is included with Windows 8 and above and plays well with all known programs…and oh, it's free! You may have to download it from MS if you're running Windows 7. Most program designers will tell you there's no other antivirus program that's much better…or more compatible ("plays well with others"). Gulams greed will be his undoing.

Interesting, when I WASN'T logged in this thread was a mile long; filled with complaints about AVG's obsessive use of pop-ups, pop-unders, pop-overs, pop-throughs and pop you in the face if you don't give us more money tactics. Log in to comment and poof! Only a few comments… hmmmm.
AVG I hope you're listening (but judging by the other thread I fear you are NOT). You're company has turned into a pan-handling, inconvenient waste of time. Most of us do not have the time nor patience to be constantly bombarded with "buy this", "add this", "upgrade this" pop-ups… most are trying to EARN A LIVING.
It is beyond ludicrous that I bought and paid for AVG "Ultimate" only to be inundated with "please give us more money" ads. What exactly is meant by "Ultimate"? Ultimate frustration? Ultimate annoyance? No it means Ultimate lost customer.
I cannot get out of AVG purgatory fast enough.
Good bye AVG… or should I say good RIDDANCE!
Hello Jim,
We completely understand your concern and apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We don't want to lose a valuable customer like you and there is option to setup frequency for AVG marketing popups.
Please let us know the version of AVG installed on your PC so we can provide exact information.
AVG, ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS? I HAVE A LARGE "YOU'VE LOST YOUR PRO PROTECTION" POP UP COVERING LARGE AMOUNT OF MY SCREEN AND IT IS ON TOP OF EVERYTHING AND WON'T GO AWAY. I CLICK ON X- IT DOES NOT GO AWAY. BECAUSE OF THIS, I WILL NOT BE BUYING YOUR PRODUCT AND I WILL CERTAINLY TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO PURCHASE YOUR PRODUCT AND I WILL GO ON TO EVERY FORUM AND COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS. YOUR PROGRAM IS A VIRUS!. YOU ARE NOT PROTECTING ME BUT YOU HAVE INSTALLED A VIRUS ON MY COMPUTER. (YES, I AM SHOUTING).
@Balasubramanian, there's no way AVG "completely understands" the concerns being stated here. A simple Google search shows that it's been years now since people started bringing up the problem of popups with AVG. If AVG understood this, it would put a simple way to reduce or eliminate ad popups in the software. It hasn't done so.
Your words are disingenuous, and you work for a company that has developed a reputation for lying.
Is there any solution? Just kill the popup?
Screenshots aren't neccesary, there have only been two pop-ups in the last week or so. One pop-up was advertizing the new "AVG VPN" and the other was advertizing "PCTuneup" which I have installed on my PC already. I have already had problems with AVG Internet Security because of pirated copies being sold on Amazon and Ebay and had to repurchase it. At the time I used the AVG removal tool (as instructed by the AVG tech support lady) then reinstalled AVG Internet Security.
Please just answer this, what you seem to be saying is "paid" versions of AVG Internet Security should NOT have advertisements, correct?
Should I try uninstalling and reinstalling everything again?
Hello john,
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
We understand how something like this will try your patience.
Could you please take and send the screenshot of the popup that you are receiving so that we can understand and assist you better in resolving it? To take a screenshot please follow the instructions mentioned in this link: avgread.me/1aZxsAV .
Thank you.
I have been with AVG since 2010/2011 because it was a non-invasive and "silent" antivirus that I could turn on and forget was there. Here lately I have been getting annoying pop-ups advertizing on my computer that I do not appreciate. I have 4 computers in my home and keep AVG Internet Security and PCTuneup on all of them. If you can count that is near or over $400 a year I pay to your company. When I bought my Amazon Kindle I paid abother $80 so I wouldn't have to look at advertizements on the screensaver. Get it?
You have an option on your software to TURN OFF NOTIFICATIONS, right? Well I use that option because I don't want to see any popups onb my PC, ESPECIALLY ads. My questions are:
1) Why doesn't the notifications option turn off these ads?
2) How do I disable future ads from AVG?
(if canceling my future subscription is the only option to removing these ads I will happily do so and encourage all the friends and family I have turned on to AVG to change over to another antivirus with me)
@ Glenn Davies
Glenn, Actually prior to Win 8 Windows Defender was only an anti-spyware prog,
Standard info… Windows Defender is an anti-malware component of Microsoft Windows. It was first released as a free antispyware program download for Windows XP, shipped with Windows Vista and Windows 7 and made into a full antivirus program replacing Microsoft Security Essentials as part of Windows 8 and later versions.

Hello Tjeerd,
Thank you for your post.
Yes, this option was released in our recent update.
Customer will be able to enable or disable the option for AVG offer popups to appear.
I hope this does the trick. I cannot remember for sure which PC I saw the notifications on but on this PC I had turned off all notifications. I will turn off this setting on all my PC's and see how it goes. Thank you.
