Having the EXACT same problem, started recently. Repairing it, will let you know of any further details.
Ray, Please be more specific on the message you have sent previously, May I know which pictures you cannot able to see?
Thank you.
I'm using the free version. Not sure what product you mean but I'm running WIndows 7 (short) on a Samsung netbook NF110. Up until today's update things weren't too bad.
Hello Jim,
We would like to know whether you have used our tools to remove AVG traces and reinstalled to check the status of CPU usage?
If not, run AVG clear followed by remover tool as mentioned in this article.
NOTE: If there are no AVG programs found, click on 'run anyway' to proceed with the removal.
If you are using AVG antivirus free, refer this article to install it.
Keep us informed about the status.
I tried the repair option, and it did not resolve the issue.
Uninstall too forever, since the aswidsAgent was still consuming most of my CPUs.
Eventually I got to the reboot (which lately have also taken forever), and it breezed right thru it !
It's been a few days now, and it's still working great again.
now, I have an long SHUTDOWN delay on my Win-XP-SP3 computer, between five and ten minutes ;
I think this is the fault of AsWidsAgent.exe , because when I survey the shutdown with the task manager , I see only 2 process with a little activity :
AsWidsAgent and LASS
These process continue to READ/WRITE on the disk , because the the Input/output index is going up.
I meant the pictures above. They just (like everythying else) took a long while to appear.
Hello Ray,
Thank you for the confirmation. We would request you to provide the screenshot of your Task manger along CPU usage of AVG Program to assist further.

I have C:\Program Files\AVG\Antivirus\aswidsagent.exe running on my laptop (Windows 7) since earlier update. It is hogging most of my memory and everything is running slower than at snail's pace, Is this a genuine AVG program? It wont't let me abort it. If its a virus, why didn't AVG pick it up and how do I remove it? Thanks
Hello Ray,
Thank you for providing the screenshot.
Did you perform the reinstallation of the AVG program as suggested by Sarath?
I can't see the pics I submitted - not sure if I've done something wrong
So…, I don't see an answer here to Ray's original question, not sure why.
My question: What is aswidsagent.exe and what does it do?
I also run AVG Free and noticed it show up on the last build in May '17.
The AVAST people are scratching their head about this too, as it also appears on their anti-virus protection.
Look forward to some explaination. Thanks!

Once done with this please install AVG Protection free using this link: http://files-download.avg.com/inst/mp/Antivirus_Free_1817.exe .
Thank you Alok! It sounds like a critical componant of AVG. Perhaps it is best to leave it on computer and not try to disable it?
Sincerely,
Eric
