Thanks, Guys. Balasubramanian's last recommendation seems to have done the trick, and AVG Free seems to be running normally. I really appreciate the help!

I just re-installed AVG Free. It now tells me I have no computer protection, and that "Resident Shield is not active. "Fix it now" doesn't work. What do I do?

Hello Jack,
This trial issue has happened because of our legitimate business campaign popup.
This issue is not due to Malwarebytes, and Spybot S&D program running concurrently. Other issues may occur if you have two or three antivirus program running concurrently on the same PC.
If you click on the campaign popup you will get the trial version installed automatically. If you aren't interested please ignore such popups in future. We request you to completely remove the current trial version using the remover tool and install the free version.
1) To download the AVG remover tool please click on this link:

2) Run the downloaded tool and follow the instructions displayed on your screen.
Jack, Providing the Malwarebytes & Spybot S&D you're using don't feature any real-time residential protection you should be OK.

Jack,
Pleased to see that you appear to be now sorted.
Thanks for returning to the Community & posting.
Thanks, Alan. Repair didn't work.
I have been, for a long time, using AVG Free, Malwarebytes, and Spybot S&D, all concurrently… Is it possible that one of these is interfering with AVG Free?
One more bit of data. The reason I had to reinstall AVG Free was that I got a red flag that my 30 day trial period had expired. Since I was using the free version, I don't know where that came from. When "repair" didn't work on that, I uninstalled all AVG files and reinstalled.
Thanks, Guys. Balasubramanian's last recommendation seems to have done the trick, and AVG Free seems to be running normally. I really appreciate the help!
