Thanks for that. The question about the remover actually prompted to check and, rookie mistake, I had left it in my recycle bin. There also was some ink file from 2015 that hadn't been removed from my desktop properly so got rid of that as well. Restarted the removing and downloading from scratch and all is back to green, updates worked fine, etc. If I have an issue over the next few weeks I'll make sure to contact the team you mailed me about.

Hi all,
Made no change to my machine (laptop with Vista) or any of the apps but when I logged in today I had no active components, rebooted fully and still no joy. Had a different issue less than 2 months ago where I had to uninstall and reinstall this year's version so the install is fairly fresh. Any idea what the problem might be? Been using AVG for years, never had that issue before. No warning of any virus in the last while or anything like that.

Domi, When you reinstalled did you download & use the AVG Remover (http://aa-download.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_Remover.exe)?.
