Chad,
I feel the same way. There has been a very drastic shift towards simplified (and less functional) user control with increased emphasis on advertisement even on the paid versions ever since the 2015 version (which was fantastic IMO and what I still have loaded on my spare computer). Having been using AVG for 18 or so years, I am loathe to find a new provider, so I am still clinging to the hope that they will turn things around before my current subscription runs out.
Of course I also have been pointing out problems to AVG with AVG Protection version 17 since February and thus far they haven't actually addressed any of them, but maybe now that they've distributed that version to everybody, it will rack up enough complaints to make them take notice.
Does that mean there is no way of removing the advertisement popups for AVG products from my paid version?
So, still waiting to hear on how to remove popups. You guys usually don't take more than a couple hours to respond, and it's been an entire day now.
Hi Chris,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy.
AVG carefully monitors the quality of our products and the service we provide, therefore all feedback from our customers is important to us. We will definitely work on our Product.
Thank you!
After fighting with AVG2017 for a good month or two on my laptop, I am not happy to have it forced on my desktop as well. That said, while I accept that AVG has the right to put any version they want on my computer at any time, I once again ask that they get it FULLY DEVELOPED first.
Problems that I now have on 2 computers instead of 1 computer thanks to the unwanted upgrade:
-Scheduled Scans will not run at all if the computer is asleep or off at the designated time, instead of running once it turns on.
-No reports for scans beyond a single green dot on the SETTINGS button that, when clicked, tells me "Hey, it worked" after which it immediately vanishes.
-Lost the ability to tell an explorer (shell) scan to only load the AVG screen when a threat is found
-Advertising popups have returned
-"Last Computer Scan" counter only acknowledges me manually pushing the "Scan Computer" button.
-AVG File Shredder context button still remains on my laptop after 6 uninstalls (at least 3 of which used the AVG removal tools, and one used the AVG removal tools AND then me manually cleaning out all the entries THAT left behind in my registry and the files it left behind on my hard drive).
Please fix your software. I do not have anymore hours to waste trying to fix your product (I'm up to something like hour 16 on the whole "get my virus protection system to work as it is supposed to" issue), either exploring help topics or posting questions or emailing you guys or having a technician remotely inspect my computer and tell me that everything is fine, only for me to have to reinstall all of AVG a week later.
And no I do not need to uninstall AVG for the -7th- time in 4 months - or if I do, that's really more of a problem with your software, not my computer(s).

Chris-
Just wanted to say that I am having many of the same issues as you. As a paid user and reseller I am so dissappointed that I am moving both myself and my clients to another competior. The final straw for me was when a customer called me in a severe PANIC over the same popup on her PAID subscription while she was logging into her banking website.
AVG has really gone down hill over the last couple of years. It's a shame that it has happened. And to AVG: Please don't bother with another one of your canned responses showing that you really haven't taken the time to read the message at all. Too little too late.
Thanks,
Chad - Soon to be former user/reseller

Chris, For your info, just in case that you are unaware, you can post the screenshot here in your topic. Click on 'Answer' & then click on the 'Image' [mountain symbol] & follow the instructions.

I have to say (again, since I'm having troubles submitting message posts this morning) that it's one thing to display an ad that says "buy our product." It's quite another to make pop-up ads that outright lie to the customer, scaring uninformed users with messages like "your personal information is being exposed!" with no regard to whether that is actually true. In this case, I happen to know for a fact that others could NOT see what I was doing, which means instead of tricking me with a scare tactic all you've done is given me reason to distrust anything AVG tells me.
