I agree - I am really fed up with AVG constantly popping up adverts - I've also read they now sell your browsing history to you get even more adverts.
I've used AVG for years and it always used to be great - but it's now just paid for adware/spyware when it's meant to be the complete opposite.
I have now uninstalled AVG and replaced it with Kaspersky Total Security - which is a much better product with no pop ups … and interestingly my PC is much faster without AVG, particularly Internet Explorer - so as well as bombarding you with ads and pops ups, AVG also slows down your PC!
Goodbye AVG … another customer you have lost forever with your unacceptable pop up messages.

Thank you!
I'm getting really sick of AVG software keep popping up messages in my task bar trying to upsell me stuff. Can someone help show me where to turn off these notifications?
It's not in the Popups under settings to alert you to threats. These are to upsell and promote different products.
If I had the free software, I could understand and endure the interruptions. But you don't buy and pay a subscription for software to be effectively spammed and interrupted 10 times a day!
Either find a way to turn it off or I'll find a new AV software. Maybe AVG has a module to block their own annoying popups :)
Thank you.
Hello Graham,
We apologize if an AVG product did not meet your expectations. Our main goal is to keep our customers happy. Many of our users find these offers useful. We handpick them from our own products or those of partners we feel can add to your security or digital experience. Also the frequency of pop ups can be controlled directly from the app or can be even turned off (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlName=How-to-Change-the-Frequency-of-Pop-Up-Notifications).
Best regards,
Alok.
Hi Akash, I doubt anyone finds the pop-ups useful. As James says these are actually unwanted applications/adware/spam, the very type of thing AVG is meant to detect and stop! These may be acceptable in a free version but not when a license has been paid for. They should not be there at all in a paid version. If you want to advertise other products use email and the AVG website.
The link you provide is instructions for the old version of the user interface. How can the popups be turned off in the new UI?
