We are sure that this should be the issue with the windows and not with the AVG program.
However, you can restore the changes made by AVG PC TuneUp to your computer. Please click on "Rescue Center" option on the AVG PC Tuneup dashboard and follow the onscreen instructions to perform restore changes made by PC Tuneup.
Since I installed AVG ver. 16.63.2.50050 I am getting error 0x80042302 whenever I start windows backup.
I'm using WIN7. My backup destination is an external USB hard drive.
The error message text says; "A Volume Shadow Copy Service component encountered an unexpected error."
I did find that Volume Shadow Copy Service had become 'disabled'. I have now set it to 'automatic', rebooted, and it remains set to 'automatic'.
However, I am still getting the above error when I start backup.
I can browse my backup drive and all looks well there.
My question is;
might this error have anything to do with AVG PC TuneUp? and what other important windows features might AVG have made that might cause my problem?
If so, how can I fix it?

I have now discovered that my backup was prevented from running because I had accidently turned on AVG turbo mode, which of course is designed to limit many windows features.
My own falt, not an AVG problem.
