AVG Antivirus 0xC0070643 Description: Event exec_finished

I recommend everyone read Ray Howard's comment a little above mine. I pretty much had the same exact phone call he did. They "diagnosed" my problem with remote assistance, stated that I had a virus, then offered a technician to fix it for $199. After complaining about not wanting to pay, they lowered it to $79 while trying to offer another deal for AVG Pro or something. I was also under the false impression they would help me install it for free. They made it seem like the virus came because I "had two antivirus running at same time." I call BS, because I've always had Malwarebytes Free (installed) with AVG Free running live protection, and never had any problems like this when trying to uninstall/reinstall AVG. I definately smell some sort of scam or money racket, and I'm starting to suspect that AVG actually purposely created this problem. Now let's just see how long it takes for them to delete this comment.

I have the same Problem.

Hey… so I'm having the exact same problem.  Fresh install of AVG Internet Security (just purchased today).  No other AVG products installed.  I get the same "0x0070643 Event exec finished".  Tried the Remover tool and the Reset Access Tools without success.  Tried installing in safe mode too but still not able to install.  What gives???

Hello David,

Sorry for the inconvenience caused.
If you have installed our AVG Zen program the first think you have to do is to uninstall the Protection program installed.
Zen is an interface for our multidevice program.
So to uninstall the interface you have to first uninstall the protection program installed in it.
This is what happened in your case, we really appreciate that you found the steps to uninstall AVG program.
Please feel free to contact us if you need any assistance.

I am installing the free version.
I used the AVG remover tool but it wasnt working, it hanged in between and there are no conflicting antivirus products

I also have the same problem with a brand new PC running windows 10. I have used the remover tool, rebooted and tried the link to avg in march 9 above. Using AVG free

I have the same problem, Already did the AVG removal tool. Can i get some instruction on how to fix this error.

User-added image

I recently upgraded my license to add a 4th system, as we now have a new Windows 10 Pro (64 bit) laptop.  Unfortunately the machine comes with McAfee security software installed, so attempting to install AVG fails (with error code C0070643).

The recommend procedure at this point is to remove the McAfee product, and then install AVG.  But this means the system would be connected to the internet and running without a firewall or anti-virus product while I was in the process of downloading the AVG software, which is not something I really want to do.

What I would like to do is download a stand-alone install package, then disconnect the machine from the internet while I remove the McAfee product and install AVG.
How do I go about downloading everything I need to perform the installation?  The "Download the product" link just downloads a 2.8MB executable, not the actual software.

Bruno,

I'm also getting this error message, but only after I tried to reinstall AVG internet security. I removed AVG with the removal program but when I try to reinstall it, it gives this error code: 0xE001F946 and this message: Event exec_finished. I don't know what to do…

I  am also having the smae problem.

I have used the removal tool and now that I am trying to reinstall I am getting avgsysx.fmw.1.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstqalling the program to fix this problem.

I have use AVG for many years, and now without being able to reinstall, (this is my 8th attempt) (windows 10) I need to look at a different program. I need to be protected.

any assistance on this matter would be greatly accepted. I prefer AVG

Is there a fix for this issue? Getting the same error in a brand new HP Spectre with Windows 10 (x64). Tried AVG remover, still the same error. Need some assistance to get rid of this.
