‘Win 7’ is in the Subject of this thread; "my OS is Windows 7 Home Premium" was in my first message. The primary problem isn’t opening AVG – it is summarized in the screenshots I shared from my OS. There are posts online about this problem with suggestions on how to fix it, but it seemed safer to ask in the AVG Support Community. As I wrote earlier, when I tried opening AVG, nothing happened. I think my OS has tried to quarantine the problem in some way. I'm reluctant to try opening AVG until the primary problem's diagnosed and addressed. My system's crashed a few more times but I still need to access material on it, and am trying to remember what I was doing before it has crashed in recent times.
Appreciate your efforts in working towards fixing the issue, Tony.

Please perform a clean installation using AVG Clear . Please ensure that KB3033929 (windows update) is installed on your computer to make AVG compatible with it.
Hello,
My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium. I have AVG AntiVirus Free installed. For some years now, there’ve been periodic interruptions to my monitor’s display summarized by the error message: “Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver AMD driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered.” The monitor goes blank and then recovers after anything from a few seconds to a few minutes. But at times, it either freezes or doesn’t recover, and I have to force a system reboot causing Windows not to shut down properly, which is never good.
I’m now sure AVG AntiVirus Free causes the problem because it’s always running when my system’s on, and this problem occurs even when the other apps/software I usually use aren’t running (e.g. Microsoft Office Word and Excel, web browsers Firefox and IE, Windows Media Player and a few other audio players/editors). I noticed it recently happened just after I started running a Quick Scan, and another time just as I was logging in to a website, when I know AVG would be active. This is to ask for any information you have on this and how to prevent it.
Thanks.
PS. If relevant, Java is disabled on both Firefox and IE because browsing is very slow with it enabled.

Hi Sreenu,
My monitor’s crashed a few more times. But a few hours ago, I managed to open AVG AntiVirus FREE and run a full scan. At the end, it quarantined the second item listed below. I checked what else was in Quarantine and discovered the other three items also, with the first quarantined about 12 days ago. I deleted them all from Quarantine:
Java:Malware-gen [Trj]
Java:Agent-AIQ [Expl]
Java:Jade-AB [Heur]
Java:Agent-BMD [Expl]
If you know their effects, please explain. I remember seeing notifications in the recenet past about ‘a new version of Java being ready to install’ or something.
Just over 3 days ago, I downloaded and installed an upgrade for an audio editor app I use. I haven’t had problems with that process before but I’ll be more cautious – I lost the upgrade in one of the recent Recovery processes by my OS, though it’s too bad Microsoft can’t help with my Device Drivers anymore.
If my system keeps crashing, I’ll uninstall and reinstall AVG AntiVirus Free as you suggest.
Thanks.

Hello Tony,
Thank you for reaching AVG Support Community.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.
AVG AntiVirus Free is designed to protect the PC against viruses, malware, spyware, ransomware, phishing, and other threats in real-time. It could not cause any issues with display drivers.
Have you made any recent changes to your system? i.e, updating drivers, etc.,
Please let us know if you've installed and using any other driver updating software on your PC.
For better clarity, please share the screenshot of the error message.
Thank you.
To update, after a system recovery before my last message, there had been a system notification that AVG wasn’t protecting my system. I rebooted after that, and the notification was AVG was protecting my system but I needed to restart it ASAP. So after sending my last message, I restarted my system and the AVG notification now is my system is secure. But I can’t open AVG – when I try to, nothing happens.

Dinesh/AVG,
[Unsolicited marketers and trolls saturate the Web, but here, I’m really only interested in responses from AVG for obvious reasons.]
I’ve confirmed KB3033929 was installed on my computer several years ago.
The frequent recent system crashes continued whether I was online or not. There was no clear correlation with any user program/app even with my opening only what was absolutely necessary for as short a time as possible. I uninstalled and reinstalled AVG AntiVirus Free several hours ago (before reading your last message). System stability resumed immediately after the uninstall. No crashes so far, which would seem to confirm my initial suspicion. I’m just relieved there seems to have been a simple fix.
