AVG AntiVirus (free version for Mac) disappeared!

I've been using AVG AntiVirus happily for years. Today it disappeared from my toolbar. When I tried to open the application, I got the message, " The application 'AVG AntiVirus' is not open anymore." I use OSX Yosemite (10.10.5) and I've been using AVG AntiVirus version 17.2. Could you advise me please how I might get AVG AntiVirus working on my Mac again? Thanks.

Thank you very much Alok. That was going to be my next step. Until- my AVG AntiVirus magically reappeared yesterday! I don't understand it. I believe it took a simple reboot to fix the problem. I appreciate your quick response, sound advice, and the links you shared with me.

In this case, I request you to uninstall (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-uninstall-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac) the AVG program from your mac computer and follow the instruction (http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-download-and-install-AVG-AntiVirus-for-Mac) to install AVG Free Antivirus 2017 version on your Mac computer.
