AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first

I think this has been a common problem within the avg free vpn download. I was having some errors earlier today, so i decided to reinstall it. But instead i got this error message:

AVG Antivirus is already installed, please uninstall the previous version first.

I deleted some of the traces in Library\Application Support then restart it and tried to run the installer again, but still end up with the same error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Please follow the below steps and try the reinstallation.

1. Open Finder
2. In menubar select Go > Go to Folder…
3. Type /Library/Application Support/ and hit the enter key
4. Locate and delete the AVGAntivirus folder
5. Reboot the computer and try the reinstallation (https://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?l=en&urlname=Install-AVG-Internet-Security) again.
