Hi Leonidas.
We'll certainly look into this.
Which version of Windows OS are you using? Please share a screenshot (https://bit.ly/2WiMpap) of the error message.
Hello.
Before I post here, I did my research and I have already tried the following steps:
1. I have had AVG repaired through the REPAIR option when you try to uninstall AVG.
This did NOT work as AVG Antivirus Service continued to hang upon shutdown and I got exactly the same behavior as before, i.e. it took the PC 5 minutes or longer to shut down while Windows informed me that it was trying to shut down "AVG Antivirus Service".
2. I completely uninstalled AVG, rebooted PC, and then reinstalled.
Pls note that PC shuts down normally (no hang) when AVG is uninstalled. After re-installing and upgrading AVG, the same problem still persists, i.e. it takes the PC 5 minutes or longer to shut down while Windows informs me that it was trying to shut down "AVG Antivirus Service".
Pls advise what can I do to fix this bug.
Please note, in addition, that I have been using AVG for years and I never had this issue before.
I started having the issue described above (i.e. Windows hangs (i.e. stops responding) while it is trying to close AVG ANTIVIRUS SERVICE, and I have to wait 5 mins or longer for Windows to shut down) after I upgraded AVG software to the latest version.
Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1 - All Microsoft published security updates installed.
Intel Core i7 4770k Haswell
Asus Maximus VI Hero (Z87 Chipset)
Palit Nvidia GTX 1080
16 GB G.SKILL DDR3@2400 MHz
Windows and AVG are installed on a 500 GB Samsung 840 Evo SSD.
AVG software produces no error message whatsoever, so there is no screenshot of any error to share with you.
My issue is that it takes Windows an unreasonably long time to shut down because the "AVG ANTIVURS SERVICE" hangs.
