Hi John.
We'll certainly look in to this.
If I may ask, how did you narrow down this issue to AVG? I'd request to disable each component in AVG Internet Security temporarily to further narrow down this issue.
I'm trying to use Mail for Windows 10 for some e-mail accounts that I used to handle on the now defunct Windows Live Mail.
AVG appears to be causing problems with everything that isn't g-mail.
With other email programs (including Outlook) AVG buggered up both receiving and sending mail.
With Mail it is fine in receiving but I cannot get mail sent out.
Any suggestions? Other than:
Use a different program
Use a different ISP
Turn off AVG (other than temporarily)
Michael, we appreciate your efforts.
We could see that the you are unable to upload the files in the Windows mail after turning off the AVG.
Hence, we can narrow down the issue that AVG is not causing the issue.
So, we request you to contact the Microsoft regarding the issue.
Let us know, if you need further help.
After further investigation:
Turning off AVG allows access to the mail server (which is not one of the big companies) by the Claw e-mail program. With it active I have problems with both upload and download.
I can get Windows 10 Mail to download from the server but not to upload: turning AVG off does not make any difference in this case.
I have further discovered that Windows Defender is telling me that it needs to download a new app to give me access to the firewall and other functions. I believe this is a known bug.
Now, I re-installed AVG (after the SSD C drive on the machine had to be replaced) and did not first disable Windows Defenders anti virus and Firewall. Was that my mistake?
Do you know of any easy way to fix the ‘Windows Defender needs an app’ cock-up? I have found several outlines on the web but have no confidence in them.
Best
