Hello James,
We are sorry for the inconvenience caused. To fix this issue, we suggest you to add this new Visual studio to AVG exception(http://avgclick.me/AddException) list and see if that fix this issue.
Thank you
I have exaclty the same problem where I cannot connect to the development server on Visual Studio 2008. This is after I installed AVG Anti Virus 745. I added exceptions as described above but it still doesn't work. I've had to de-install the AVG product. Please can you fix this as I've just spent £52.99 in renewing my subscription.
I can't upgrade to a later version of Visual Studio by the way as I must keep to this version.
Thanks and regards
Kevin
I just downloaded the new Visual Studio 2017. My problem is that every time I try to run some code I have just written AVG blocks it as a virus or malware. I don't even get to see my code in action to test if it works. This is very frustrating. Anyone know how I can stop this and still keep my AVG?

Hello, Kevin.
We'd love to help you with this. If it is AVG Internet Security that you paid for, check if AVG firewall is configured with below recommended settings or not.
Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Network Profile and change it to Private.
Open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->Firewall->Customize->Policies->System Rules and set all rules to "Enabled".
Make sure the above settings are applied and let us know if the issue persist.
