I've changed all the network profiles to private and it didn't seem to make any difference but a while later it seems to be working so am hoping its OK now.
I had this problem as well. Also found it helpful to allow port 32400 in the packet rule configuration
(Customise firewall, then press Packet Rules at the bottom of the Policies page)
Give it a name
Action: Allow
Protocol: TCP.UDP
Direction: In/Out
Local and Remote Port: 32400 (change if you have Plex on custom port, 32400 is default)
Profile: All

I've had AVG Ultimate & Plex for a while and seem to work fine with each other. However, i've just added AVG Secure VPN and had update to AVG Zen (all looks different) and now I cannot remote access the Plex server. It connects for a moment (<1sec) and then disconnects. Based on another thread I found I've changed all my network profiles to 'private' (desktop in my house so everything is private) and have looked at the application rules for Plex & Plex Inc and changed the Plex Media Server row to allow all connections. Not sure if this is the right one (but its remote access to the server so guess it is) but to be on the safe side I've set all other plex rules to 'Ask' rather than 'auto decide'. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm way out of my comfort zone with this and if pushed to choose between plex and AVG then Plex wins by a mile.
