Fernando, we have requested you to disable Email shield to confirm if it is blocking the emails.
Please enable Email shield and add port number of your service provider in AVG Internet Security to check with Thunderbird.
Click the below link to show steps to add email service provider port number.

Keep us posted.
Thank you, but it did not work because I was unable to add port number (even if I knew the number) : the steps your link shows are not available in my AVG AntiVirus Free version…
Any other link?
~Hi!
I got there alright! and the doors are apparently correct,
I have SMTP 587 on the left and POP 995 on the right (safe doors??)
I wouldn´t know which to change.
I am no network expert, sorry…
(I have another machine, also Win 10, same AVG, same Thunderbird, but IMAP instead of POP, and it never blocks emails in or out…)
Hi!
I did it and it worked!
Just wonder how much vulnerable I became to attacks through mail??
Thank you
Fernando
Hello F Torrinha.
We regret the inconvenience caused.
Which AVG product are you using on the PC? If I may ask, how did you exactly narrow down this issue to AVG?
Do you have any other antivirus program or VPN software installed on your PC?
Hi
AVG blocks incoming and outcoming messages of Thunderbird. This is a new thing, I was using Thunderbird and AVG for ages. Still it happens just on my PC, not on my laptop, with the same programs.
I reinstalled AVG and Thunderbird with no sucess.
I saw several previous posts with this same complaint
Thanks for some help
FT

Appreciate your efforts in working towards fixing the issue, Fernando.
You need to open the old settings from Troubleshooting option (in left pane), as mentioned in the provided article. Would you be so kind to clarify whether you're unable to open old settings?
