Did you get the error warning from Microsoft access or from AVG?

I've been struggling for some time with an error message returned whilst trying to edit an Access database which, after a lot of analysis and experimentation appears to be caused by the length of time AVG takes to scan the database after a second or more edits has been saved.
This morning I've disconnected my PC from the Internet and disabled AVG but left Defender running. I then opened the database and did a series of about 20 quick edits to add some missing data. All were saved successfully without throwing the error message, so I think I've got the answer at last.
It seems to me that I should be creating an exception in AVG so that it does not scan the data after each edit has been saved. I've reinstated the Internet, enabled AVG again and then tried creating an exception for the actual database files at E:\Documents<program name>*., but still get the same error message. I've also tried creating an exception at C:\Program Files (86)<program name>*. and am still getting the error.
Can someone point me in the right direction here please?

I believe this is an Access error message. Everything I have found indicates that this error occurs when the software does not have write permissions access to the file and / or drive. The "Operation must use an updateable query" error in MS Access typically occurs when the database file or the folder it resides in does not have the necessary write permissions.
