Hello, Karthikeyan,
Thank you for your reply.
Up until recently, everything was fine. About two-three weeks ago I applied the latest AVG upgrade and lost the ability to update any of my files. I tried to remove the "read-only" attribute manually on a file but the system immediately turns it back on.
A member of your staff helped me to pause AVG and I have update capability again.
I have applied at least one AVG upgrade since but the behavior still exists.
So I'm OK but mostly run AVG in paused mode.
I'm not sure how to follow your latest direction. When I open AVG, I see five areas:
Basic Protection:
Computer - Protected
Web & Email - Protected
Full Protection:
Hacker Attacks - Not Protected
Privacy - Not Protected
Payments - Not Protected
I don't see options that seem to correspond to your instructions.
Best,
Joe
Hello Joseph,
I understand that some of your files are in read only mode. Please let me know if you are able to edit or make changes to this files with AVG disabled. If you have not tried this, please follow the below steps to disable AVG temporarily.
To disable AVG temporarily, please right click on the AVG icon present at the bottom right corner of your desktop(System Tray) and you can see a scroll bar to "Disable Protection". Please click on the same to disable AVG Protection and after which check if you are able to access this application.
You can also check if this application is listed in the blocked list of AVG. Open AVG Internet Security->Click on "Hacker Attacks" and select open next to "Ransomware Protection". Click on "Allowed/Blocked" list. From here check if this application is listed under blocked list. If it is, please remove the same and check if this application works fine with AVG enabled.
Why does AVG change all files to read-only if it is not paused? I'm running AVG Free and Windows 7 on an ASUS laptop. This problem began about 2-3 AVG updates ago.
