After updating to Firefox 67.0.2 AVG has blocked Firefox's access to logins.json according to AVG's statement. I had to follow the instructions Mozilla provided at https://support.mozilla.org/kb/passwords-disappearing-avg-security-software in order to fix the problem since AVG's fix didn't bring the data back. How do I prevent AVG from blocking Firefox's access to its own data in the future?

Hi Matt,

Please accept our apologies for the inconvenience caused.
We have notified this to the concerned team. They're investigating on it currently. Once we hear from them, we'll write back to you.
Thank you for your understanding in advance!

the issue was caused because Firefox did not add the signed security certificate along with the update.

That's not what the article said. The certificate changed due to an upcoming expiration and AVG wasn't setup to handle it changing… it made the bad assumption that the same certificate will be used forever. This was AVG's fault, not Mozilla's.

None of you are reading my questions properly… I'm not asking how to fix this dataloss right now (I already did that), I'm asking how I can shut off this AVG "feature" so it never happens again?

Glad to hear that you can restore the logins and passwords.

As mentioned in the article you shared, the issue was caused because Firefox did not add the signed security certificate along with the update. Since they had done it now, you should not experience this issue again. Could you clarify if it is AVG AntiVirus free or AVG Password Protection that you are using?
