AVG daemon causing high CPU usage / spike on MacOS Catalina

Hi, I left the device overnight. It is much better today.
Howver it was running at 140% of CPU yesterday.
I did samply the process so I have a resultant log file 480KB.
Would you like to email it to you to investigate root cause?

I also noticed photoanalysisd was also very active. It is a daemon to go through photos on Apple Photos app to detect faces. Could this have triggered AVG Daemon to scan my almost 100GB of photos in the process?

All is well now but I am still curious how to prevent such spikes in the future please. Is there a way I could limit how much % of my processor is allotted to this process?

Hi Ferris,

We are sorry to hear this.

Can you share us the screenshot of the CPU usage?

AVG daemon causing high CPU usage / spike on MacOS Catalina.
Tried to kill it. Once it comes back to life it freezes again.
Running latest software and protection updates.
I have conducted a sample of the process com.avg.daemon if that helps/

Any clue please? My MacBook Pro is freezing while this processes is consuming 200% of CPU time. The computer is running hot.
