AVG Data Shredder not showing in the Windows Context Menu

I have renewed my subscription today for AVG Internet Security to expired in 10/2027.

I downloaded the new version and activated my subscription. But now the AVG Data Shredder is not showing in the Windows Context Menu as it did before I renewed the subcription.

I have checked the box in the ‘Data Shredder’ menu to add the shredder to the Windows Context Menu, but it does not appear in the Context Menu when I try to use it.

I unchecked the box and did a restart……it was not there. Then I checked the box again, did a restart and it is still not there.

So the question is how do I get the Data Shredder it to appear in the Windows Context Menu so I can use it.

**********************

IS THERE SOMEONE WHO CAN ANSWER THIS……….OR DO AVG NEED TO DO AN UPGRADE TO THEIR INTERNET SECURITY SYSTEM

*********************

So I have completely uninstalled AVG Internet security and then restarted the computer.

Then downloaded AVG Internet Security on my PC again. Entered my activation code and I am informed my new subscription runs until October 2027….. GREAT.

Ticked all the boxes to add Data Shredder to my Windows Context Menu.

And ‘Lo and Behold’ it is still not listed enabling the facility to shred files using the Windows Context Menu.

Question………Does anybody from AVG follow these messages on the Community and can someone pleae help and sort the problem out. Checking the web, only AVG can do it.

I had a recent AVG Internet Security update advising me of all the things that are ‘new’……..But still the AVG Data Shredder is not there in the Windows Context Menu.

What annoys me is……….It was working perfectly OK until I renewed my subscription and downloaded the latest version of AVG Internet Security.

I have the same problem, after buying a new pc and installing AVG. Done all the same steps as you, but it won’t show :frowning:

The this sounds like a AVG problem, not our PC’s.

I am due to upgrade my computer in the next month to Windows 11, I am hoping this will sort it, but reading your reply……It may not.

Shredding items via the main page ‘Data Shredder’ function is fiddly and a ‘pain’ :slightly_frowning_face: , it was so simple using the Windows Context Menu.

Question is………Will someone see these messages at AVG and rectify the issue.

Searching the Web, it says you can access the Windows Context Menu via the Registry (which I am afraid to touch). However, this only allows you to remove items from the menu in the Registry…not add items.

The big question is ….How many other AVG Users have now got this problem since renewing their membership and downloading the new AVG Internet Security? ……But do not follow it up.

Thanks for replying to my ‘post’……….Hopefully someone may see it and do something about it.

Same here. Why don’t these companies leave things how they were!!!

I agree………. But they say it’s improving things….OK. But they need to rectify the problems when errors occur.

The question is…….Does AVG ever read these posts and pick up the problems that have been created when upgrading the product.

Same problem here… How do we contact AVG directly about this ???

I wish I knew………… You would have thought AVG would be on the ‘look-out’ for posts like this.

I’ve just noticed this problem today. Went to shred the recycle bin only to find the option just randomly disappeared.

Uninstalled AVG with AVG Clear, just to make sure, then reinstalled… still missing.

Restarted PC after reinstallation… still missing.

Stupid problem, must have a very simple fix that AVG is failing to provide.

I have the same thing. I think it disappeared after the last update, before then it was there.

The Scan for virus option is still there

Yes… This is what I found, ‘the Scan option’ is there. It is the Data Shredder that is not showing up in the Windows Context menu.

The questions to AVG are…..…How many other mmebers/users are having this issue since updating their Internet Security and WHEN will AVG sort the problem out?

I have the same problem. 25.9.10453a (versie 25.9.10453.953)

Even after the update mine is still not showing. I

Go to Settings and Tools. try Repair.

Still not working….Uninstall and download new version………and see what happens. Currently I am using Windows 10.

Sorry to hear that. Can you please check if the problem persists after reboot? If so can you please check which version of the product you’re running?
