Same thing happened to me and also did something so I couldn't connect to the net. Am yet to find a way to fix this pronblem.
I have free avg 2015, and this evening it updated itself. When my computer restarted my sound was deactivated and nothing I tried could fix it. Also couldn't access my control panel. It took two hours of trying System Restore to finally get my computer up and running with sound.
Has anyone else run into this problem or something similar?
