AVG defaulted to free and cannot login

After weeks of going in circles with support - who completely misunderstood the issue initially - the problem was finally resolved by the major update to AVG Cleaner that happened the other day. Let see if it stays that way.

Hello Simon,

Please be informed that AVG mobile support is available only through email.
Are you getting adverts for AVG apps or is it for other apps?
Does it appear when access AVG app or is while browsing?

Recently my phone started showing me adverts. I went to scan it with anti virus and discovered all of my AVG products had defaulted to the free versions and I was unable to login to my account to upgrade them. AVG are unable to help - the chat is not working and when I log in online my subscriptions have disappeared though the invoices are present.

your other option via the link allows me access to antivirus which is the only part of ultimate that appears to be functioning…cleaner and boost not so much.

I have exactly the same problem. My AVG Cleaner reverted to Free version. Log in from the app does not work "unable to reach server - please check your internet connection". MyAccount link from the app goes to some random page that lists all AVG products and suggests you try the homepage. Using Chrome I try to log in to my account but the log in link there gives me "problem loading page: too many redirects." I have cleared browser data and that still did not work. I uninstalled Cleaner so that I might re-install after logging in, but can't log in.
This is the second time this has happened in past week. The first time it fooled me into thinking my subscription had expired and so I upgraded, only to realize I already had a valid subscription. But at least I got a refund on that.

My concern is less with the adverts and more with the fact that I am paying for AVG ultimate and receiving AVG free with no way of logging in to my account in order to get back the pro version. The adverts appear consistently on the AVG apps except antivirus which still appears as pro
