AVG has been detecting System32\dnsapi.dll as a Trojan Horse Generic38. We have re-checked this in Malwarebytes and with VirusTotal and these tools have all shown the file as being clean. I've also submitted the file for analysis with your automated "False Positive Submission" system.
Is there anything else we can do to determine whether this is a false positive, and if it is, when will the virus definitions be updated to state so?
Hi Andy,
If you had already submitted the sample to AVG, our developers will analyze and add it to white list if the file is clean. Please be informed that you will not receive the results of analysis and it is not determinant how much time will it take. Keep your AVG anti virus virus definitions up to date.
I would also request you to remove unknown add ons and extensions from your web browser. Please also perform DNS reset as suggested below.
Click Start.
Enter cmd in the Start menu search text box.
Right-click Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator.
Run the following command: ipconfig /flushdns
If the command succeeds, the system returns the following message: Windows IP configuration successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Thanks for getting back to me. Yes I also submitted the file for review by yourselves.
Just for anyone else experiencing this issue, Our AVG client checked for updates again around 10PM last night (GMT) and all of a sudden was no longer flagging this file as a Trojan Horse, so i'm assuming it turned out to be a false positive.
You're welcome Andy,
I'm glad to hear that the issue has been not longer flagging. Feel free to contact us again if you need any further assistance.
Best regards,
Alok.
