Untill yesterday I had AVG anti-virus (free) running smootly on Windows 10 without a single problem.  After an update the whole thing refused to work. After investigating the program had somehow become corrupt (on start up I was getting some message about a server connection error).

Having uninstalled amd c;eared AVG entierly from the registry so not to leave a trace and cause any problems I reinstalled it only for it to fail.

I've tried all the fixes I've found online (various AVG removal tools and repair features) and none have worked.

Any suggestions?
