Avg firewall blocking all websites

Hello Kyle-

Thanks for your quick response and sorry for my slow one. I tried resetting the firewall configuration to default but that hasn't fixed the problem. Browsers still won't load any pages until I set the firewall to "allow all". Once I've done that everything works fine. I would appreciate any other ideas or suggestions.

I will try to uninstall and reinstall AVG to the newest build and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Brad,

Are you able to reset your firewall configuration?

  1. Open your AVG program.

  2. Click the Firewall component.

  3. Click Reset to default.

  4. When prompted, confirm by clicking Yes.

This should reset the rules that's causing AVG to block connections on your browser.

Let me know how you get on!

Hi Brad,
I am happy to see that your issue is resolved.
Thanks for posting back.

Hello there!

I have an Acer laptop with Windows 8.1. This morning I was unable to connect to any websites through either the Chrome or Windows browsers. When I disable the AVG firewall this solves the problem. I am running the free AVG 2014 build 4714. Any advice on how to get access to websites without disabling the firewall would be greatly appreciated!

I will try to uninstall and reinstall AVG to the newest build and see if that makes a difference.

Hello-

Thanks for your response. I have run the diagnostic tool and the output has been saved to the AVG FTP server under the filename bradbulla@hotmail.com_04-07-2014_18h-13m.7z

Hopefully you can gain access to it since I can't seem to view the file on my own.

To sum up my problem: I can not access the internet through any browser on my laptop while the firewall is active. When I disable the AVG firewall this solves the problem. I am running the free AVG 2014 build 4714. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Brad,
In order to analyze it please provide us with diagnostic output using this tool (http://http://www.avg.com/filedir/util/AVG_SysInfo.exe) and please add detailed description of issue.
Thanks
