AVG for Mac - connectivity issues

I’ve recently purchased AVG for our family, covering multiple devices (OS, Win, iOS, Android).

Whilst of course the iOS version adds no real value, the Win and Android versions seem to work as advertised, but I have ongoing connectivity issues on 3 OS devices:

  1. WiFi keeps dropping connectivity - even when Wifi is connected to a network (3 different ones in use, in different locations), the AVG shields seem to prevent access at random & on multiple occasions, or even drop connectivity altogether. I’ve disable HTTPS downgrade and removed all other “barriers” (…so what’s the use of having AVG?) but still the same issues. I also thought this may be linked to OS screensaver, because the issue also occurred after waking from “sleep” - even though I have disabled the “put disk to sleep” mode and enabled “wake for network” on all device OS. I thought maybe using VPN services other than AVG may interfere at some level, but who has time to go digging & try to figure out where / how / why…

  2. TimeMachine (all on external SSD) across my 3 devices keep getting “fail to backup” error, apparently because some OS kernel extensions / files cannot be read. This happens across all my 3 OS devices (they each have their own TM external backups) at random, which was never the case prior to installing AVG. Once I restart the devices and disable some AVG components / shields, the backups seem to happen as normal.

So on my devices AVG for Mac has some nagging performance issues. I don’t have time to go back and forth between AVG and Apple and play the “it’s not us it’s them” - game, so I just wanted to highlight these issues, maybe somebody in the AVG community had the same and found a solution / cause of the issues.

Thanks

I can confirm that after uninstalling AVG from the 3 OS devices, all the WiFi- and external connectivity issues seem to have been resolved. Whether it’s an Apple or AVG issue I don’t know / can’t say; but I don’t have time to do “pro bono” work for either of them and try to find out why, and they won’t care anyway since they got my money already. For now, goodbye AVG.
