Avg free - blocking brother printer from scanning

Did you add the exception available in "Behavior Shield" component?

Hi, I have AVG Free installed and updated. However today after an update I can no longer scan from my brother printer, AVG blocks the scanner from writing the file to the PC. I have attempted to add the printer/application to exceptions and still won't work. If I disable the behavior shield the scan works fine. When searching the AVG forums all solutions are for AVG Internet Security, not the Free version. I do not have firewall option or indeed public and private network options. 

how do I fix this please?

To be sure, did you add the ".exe" file of printer software to the exceptions?

Hi, yes added it in both general and then tried the exceptions in behaviour shield. Still wouldn't work. I added the IP of the printer and the program exe. Also the location the scanner is trying to write to.
