AVG Free Blocking execution of programs

Hi, 
I had the same problems with Canon software and it has been solved in all but one case by creating exceptions in AVG.

I still have a problem with Canon MapUtility though. I created an exception for maputility.exe but it will still not start up when AVG is running. If I shut down AVG, the application runs. If I shut down the various components of AVG one at a time, it still will not run.

I'm running a trial version of AVG Pro on Windows 10.

I also have this problem.  Latest update prevents Canon EOS Utility from running.

I am also having the exact same problem since the latest update. I tryed uninstalling AVG free and rebooting then reinstalling and rebooting but nothing has changed. I did the same with EOS Utility, uninstall reboot, reinstall reboot.
Nothing works. All was well untill the latest update. I use EOS utility constantly if there is no solution I will have to look elseware for my virus protection.

Hello George. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I would request you to uninstall and reinstall the AVG Free antivirus program once and if the issue persists please do let us know.

Thank you Hariharkuma! That fixed the problem. I didn't realize that I could add the files to the exception list! Probably should have tried to figure that out myself earlier!  :slight_smile:

Today I received an update for AVG Free. I rebooted my PC as instructed, and now two, that I am aware of, programs won't run anymore. I double-click on them and they don't run. When I disable AVG, then run fine. I scanned the folder where they reside and no problems. The two programs are Canon EOS Utility and Canon Picture Style Editor. I don't see any info saying that they were blocked or anything. They just don't execute when AVG is active. My version of AVG is 2015.0.6081, DB version is 4365/10147(Thursday,July 2, 2015, 2:20 PM).  I'd appreciate any suggestions.Thank you!!

Hi George and Warren, could you please try to disable AVG and then reinstall the programs which have been blocked by AVG, after you reinstall those programs, add them to  AVG exception list and check if that works, follow the below articles to know how to disable AVG and how to add files and folders to AVG exception lists.

PS… I loaded the latest version of Canon Utilities from the Canon web site.
