I have tried numerous times to install avg free edition after doing a fresh windows 7 install. I have never had a problem with this before, and I have used avg free for years. It first takes forever to prepare installation so I have to let it sit for hours before progress is made before during download I get an error message saying installation failed. I saved the log file, but cannot find the error messages in the log. If there is a place to find this then I can get the information here. Otherwise it will be a while so I can retry installing just to have it fail hours from now. one of the errors it gave me was 0xc042. I am also having other issues with download times from other sites so I don't know if it is a problem with windows 7 or not. Windows update is not working either which gives me cause for concern.

We appreciate all your efforts, we apologize for the difficulties. Is there any other Antivirus program like McAfee or AVG Antivirus program installed on your system? If so, please uninstall it and then we would request you to run the AVG remover tool to remove all the remnants of the failed installation.

Kindly download your AVG remover and run it, then go to C: -> AVG Remover -> Bin -> pctremover.exe and avgfmwremover.exe (do not restart your device if prompted), then run avgremover.exe (it will automatically reboot your device).
Then please remove the AVG folders manually as suggested below. Go to Run window (press windows key and R key simultaneously) and type the following comments to delete the folders.

- Type “Temp” and press enter, remove all the files.
2. “%temp%” and remove all the files.
3. %appdata% - Remove all the AVG folders.
4. %programdata% - Open the AVG folder and remove the old files.
