AVG Free expiring

We would like to inform you that AVG Anti Virus Free will not expire as it is a free product. If the application says that it is going to expire in 12 days, please uninstall the AVG Anti Virus Free and restart your computer and then reinstall the application. I have AVG Free installed on my desktop computer. This morning a message came up that my AVG Free would expire in 12 days time. I wish to continue with AVG Free. What do i do? I am not particularly good with technology so could any reply be in simple, straightforward terms. Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply. The message only appeared once this morning but not since so i cannot give screenshot. From memory, it said that i have had AVG Free installed for 374 days and it was expiring in 12 days time. The message also contained options to renew by paying which i declined bny clicking 'No thanks'. This is all i can recall from the message. 
If i do nothing, will AVG  Free continue to operate normally do you think or will it become inoperable after the 12 days i have mentioned?
