AVG Free on Old Windows XP PC

I am trying to re-install Free AVG on an old XP machine.  The download works fine but setup.exe will not run as it reports that it is not a valid Win32 application.  Any ideas what could cause this?

We'd like to inform that AVG AntiVirus free 2019 is not compatible with Windows XP.  However, you could download and install a 30 day trial of AVG Internet Security 18.8.
