- Well it's been running for an hour - just the bar going left to right and not asking anything about what I should uninstall.
I can see that there is one instance of instup.exe running - presumably that is blocking the uninstall? I found by manually ending this process that then avgclear would instantly ask what to uninstall.
While nothing from AVG seems to be running any more, there are still links in the registry - under HKLM/software/AVG there are still many keys left behind. Should these not have been removed?
I've already restarted and retried to uninstall from the control panel but it didn't work. That was when I then tried the AVG Clear tool
AVG is using huge amounts of my CPU, slowing the computer down.
It got stuck installing updates. I left it on for over 24 hours and it got nowwhere (the bar looked like it was at the end but it had not completed).
I have tried to uninstall from Control Panel and that got nowhere after 12 hours.
I have run AVG Clear tool. That is just sitting there with a bar going left to right (it's not even got to step 4 in the instructions to ask me whether to use safe mode).
In Taskmanager there are four instances of the instup.exe process (with the description AVG Antivirus Installer) and they are all using 13% of the CPU power. I can't even manually kill the instup processes - I get permission denied.
I'd like to either get it uninstalled and I'll re-install from scratch. If it repeats the issue then I'll review the market and switch to a different product.
You are most welcome, Peter.
Feel free to contact us if you need assistance with AVG.
Have a nice day!
Glad to hear that, Peter.
We'd request you to reinstall AVG and await your confirmation about AVG updates.
It's installed and both virus definitions and appication are up to date - so all looking good for now. Thanks for the assistance.
There were no AVG folders so it should all have been removed successfuly. I presume I am now safe to re-install and hope it doesn't get stuck on updates again.
Hello Peter.
We're sorry for the inconvenience.
This could be due to the connection between AVG app and the updater server is interrupted.
You were unable to remove AVG because the update process is in progress.
Please restart your PC once and then try to uninstall AVG from control panel.

Peter, we appreciate your efforts so far.
Boot your PC in safe mode (https://bit.ly/33XzwY0) and then run AVG Clear tool.
