AVG free version 16.51.7497

avg tried to update 4-4-16 (yesterday) and evidently failed…icon disapeared from system tray…couldn't connect to the internet and pretty much everything stopped working correctly…"programs" showed avg file was "empty."  I tried to go to control panel to repair avg…but wouldn't do anything but spin the "bluewheel". Pretty much everything stopped working correctly…like the windows files were corrupted…I shut down the power…Today 4-5-16 I rebooted and did F12 diagnostics check and it showed no problems…I rebooted and the icon reappeared and I could use the internet…but on the avg start page shows "identity theft unprotected" when you hit "fix now" it doesn't fix it…Did "update" and it still showed "identify theft unprotected"…did complete scan which showed nothing…still shows "identity unprotected" in red and hitting "fix it button" didn't work…I will try safe mode boot and then do scan with AVG, and spybot, and malicious software scan from microsoft…also will try sfc/scannow from command prompt
