So last night I got a popup from AVG saying that they removed a malware called aspnet_compiler.exe from my computer. I looked this up specifically, but nothing came out of it other than it was a program that was sometimes used in Microsoft Visual Studios? I looked and looked, and it seemed like it really wasn't malware, but I assumed maybe it was, but it disguised itself as aspnet_compiler.exe.
After I scanned everything in my computer with both Malwarebytes and AVG (Free), Maleware said I was clean, but AVG says it quarantined Win32:Maleware-gen. When I look into details, it says the malware is from this path:
"C:$WINDOWS.~BT\NewOS\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_compiler.exe"
and
"C:$WINDOWS.~BT\NewOS\Windows\WinSxS\x86_aspnet_compiler_b03f5f7f11d50a3a_10.0.16299.15_none_33dac4e0b5d00f53\aspnet_compiler.exe"
So, they're both aspnet_compiler.exe again, but in two different paths/folders. The first time it notified me, the path lead to my AMD folders. Is this a false positive or am I really infected? Malwarebytes didn't pick anything up, but AVG keeps picking this aspnet_compiler.exe up and now calls it Win32:Malware-gen.
Can I get a little help and clarification? Currently, my AVG says its quarantined both of these, but I haven't moved from that text-box in case I need to pull them out of quarantine to not ruin my computer files.
