Hello Gina,
Sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused. Is there any conflicting anti virus software or a third party firewall program installed on your computer? If so, please uninstall them. Please also try to run repair installation ( avgclick.me/RepairAVG ) of your AVG once.
Feel free to let us know if you require any further assistance. Thank you.
Avinash i tried the repair but the memory utilization for avg id protection is now over 280 mb and climbing so will uninstall avg and attempt to reinstall to clear the issue, if that does not work then will ikely ask for a refund and find another security app to use. but thank you for your assistance.
AVG ID protection service has gone from less than 100 mb to over 200 mb of memory utilization which is outrageous and now the AVG family is using well over 400 mb of my systems memory… I contacted tech support but honestly the tech said it was just the way it is which is simply untrue, if i have to uninstall the AVG Internet product in order to release the memory being held hostage then that is what will happen and i will go back to the avg free version as it didn't seem to want to eat my systems memory the way the paid version does. I have not installed a bunch of software/apps on my system which could have potentially increased the memory utilization so that is not the cause of what honestly looks like a memory leak to this old techie. Any advice on how to effectively disable avg id protection, without uninstalling AVG, so that it releases the resources it is holding would be appreciated.

Avinash… the avgclick.me/repairavg does not specify which of the avg components i am supposed to attemp to repair(once)… currently listed under the prog/features tab are the following… AVG, AVG PC TUNEUP, AVG PROTECTION and AVG WEB TUNEUP … which of these am i supposed to repair… the instructions say AVG but do not specify if all are supposed to be repaired or just a single product… also the AVG Idenity protection service is now using over 270 mb of memory… and your question about my running conflicting antivirus or 3rd party firewall is kinda ridiculous to me as this installation has been running ok for the past 3 months without this issue and i have not added any programs to the system in that time frame so my response to that question is NO. I will assume that the intent is to attempt to run the repair on the main AVG module… if that was not the intent of the repair then you need to make that clear in your instructions. Gina
