AVG Internet Security Firewall settings for Belkin Network Hub

I have a Belkin Network Hub which is connected to my printers. Communication with them from my desktop PC is excellent but my laptop which has AVG Internet Security won't communicate. The printers are all shown in the Belkin Control Centre. The laptop also works perfectly well wirelessly. I understand it is something to do with configuring the firewall as Belkin give details for other security programs but not AVG. Can you help please?

Hello John,

To confirm whether AVG Firewall is causing this issue, we request you to disable AVG program temporarily by following the instructions mentioned in this link: http://avgread.me/1GnMD3N .
Do let us know the status of this.

Dear all, Thank you for your suggestions and I have tried the one from Balasubramanian. I have disabled the protection as suggested but still cannot connect to my printers. However, If in addition I disable the firewall then printer communication is established. But disabling ALL the AVG protection isn't a wise thing to do.

Thank you for the information and the link to follow. However, I’m unsure of what the entry for the executable file should be. In my case would it be an .exe file for each of my printers?

yes

further, noticed in the logs that there was a pair of allow block once I activated my rule.  so, wrote another one:
protocol: tcp
direction: out
local port:50000-52000
remote ports: 20005
remote addresses: 192.168.0.1

printing now works

perhaps you could help me tighten up these two rules.

aside…
wish I could cut anc paste from the log and the rule editor…it would make things a little simpler.  Or, if I could capture and attach the image it would be just as good.
