AVG Internet Security interferes with MS ActiveSync connection

Hi, I use MS ActiveSync 3.8 to connect to an old PDA, from Windows XP computer. After a recent AVG update, the PDA starts to connect to ActiveSync, but then drops out. I entered an exception into AVG for the path to ActiveSync, but with same result.

If I turn off all AVG protection, the PDA connects fine via ActiveSync. After the connection is established, I can turn AVG protection on, and the connection remains established.

This is not a big deal, since disabling AVG for a short time, to establish connection, is probably not exceptionally risky. But it is another step. And the step was not required a month ago.

Thanks, warren

Hello Warren,

I understand the inconvenience.
I request you to update the recommended settings to AVG Firewall.
Open the AVG Internet Security dashboard and click on "Menu–>Settings–>Components–>Firewall–>Customize"
To the right of "Policies" scroll down to click on "System Rules"
Enable the option for "Windows file sharing and printing", "allow remote desktop connection" and the last entry "Enable stealth mode"
Below policies, click on "Network Profiles", to the right click on the network connection and change the profile to "Private" if it is set to "Public".
Keep us informed about the status.
