AVG Internet Security Update only lets my laptop run for 10-15 min before using 100% memory

Hello,

Did you get any error message, while it was freezing?

Have you tried uninstalling the product from the control panel?

Can you send us the version of your AVG?

I am on Windows 7 and have been using AVG Internet Security for a few years without issue. All of a sudden in late December/early January, I restarted my laptop and AVG did an update, which renders my laptop useless. After about 10-15 minutes on starting up my laptop, the memory spikes to 4GB/100% and everything freezes except the mouse cursor and I have to manually shut down.

I uninstalled with the remover, it works fine without AVG installed. I have no other antivirus installed and tried following the instructions provided. Ran the clear tool, rebooted, ran the removal tool in safe mode, manually deleted any trace of AVG and the AVG Remover in my C: drive, rebooted, ran the removal tool again despite it not finding anything, deleted the C:AVG Remover folder again, rebooted. Did a fresh install from the website and it froze again. Any help or ideas?

I get no error message but I can tell because of the Task Manager that it’s AVG spiking in memory. It goes from normal to 100% all of a sudden.
I no longer have any AVG products installed/listed on the control panel.
The few AVG files I found in a search were from the C:Windows folder, which I cannot delete manually and were not removed with the tools. Since my laptop cannot run with AVG, I no longer have it installed (and I have limited my usage on it) but I assume it would be the latest version. I have done a fresh install twice and had to remove it both times because after a few minutes, it was spiking the memory usage again and freezing. I even ran the remover, rebooted, deleted the remover folder more than once as suggested in other threads.
