AVG isn't starting up any more - unable to scan

This isn't the expected behavior.
Perform (repair) of AVG Antivirus/Interent Security and check the status.

I can't get AVG GUI to start; hence I am unable to scan my computer.  I'm not sure whether my computer has internet protection either.  I don't know if AVG is running/active  In the system tray AVG icon has a red cross through it.  AVGUI*32 is the only AVG type process running in the taskmanager.  How can check or start AVG without restarting my computer or restarting my browsers ?

It certainly  is not the expected behaviour !
Thanks for the link with the apparently simple instructions (which I haven't yet tried) to repair.
Is this the only wayy ? I did say in my OP "How can check or start AVG without restarting my computer or restarting my browsers ?"…

You are most welcome.
Since AVG isn't responding, it is necessary to perform repair of the program which is the first troubleshooting step.
You can check whether AVG processes are running in the background from "Task Manager" "processes" tab.
Keep us informed about the status after repair.
