AVG kills CPU performance when downloading on steam

I am not sure that you guys are following what I am saying.

By following your guide I get this menu as shown in the picture

https://puu.sh/yWUsR/e2846c80d8.png

There's no option called "Firewall" or "Enhanced Firewall".

I've been through all the customize options in all catagories and added Steam.exe as exception in everyone of them and none of it has helped.

Hello Mikkel,
If I understand correctly, your CPU usage of AVG is high while accessing Steam client bootstrapper and you need AVG firewall to ask before blocking any program automatically. If so, please disable AVG Internet Security as per this article and check the CPU usage while accessing Steam client bootstrapper and please be informed that AVG firewall has an option to ask before blocking any application. To check that option, please open AVG Internet Security->Menu->Settings->Components->customize option in Firewall->Policies->select the default rules as 'Ask' and click 'OK' to save changes.
Then check the status.

Hey Abirami.

Thanks for the quick response, I am following you up untill the part where you say firewall as the firewall is none of my selections, I believe that menu is split up in different ways with the recent updates.

If you are referring to the Behavior shield as the "firewall" then I've just changed it to always ask and added steam to exception but AVG is still combating it.

Meilleur,

I understand the inconvenience. In the latest version, the firewall name has been changed to Enhanced firewall. Please, open AVG Internet Security > Menu ▸ Settings ▸ Components ▸ Enhanced Firewall ▸ Customize > Default Rules and specify the settings.

You can also refer this article AVG Antivirus: Firewall Settings for further assistance.

Mikkel,

Sorry for the confusion. We see that you are using AVG Antivirus free version and would like to inform you that we do not offer Firewall for free version.

Make sure that both programs are up to date. I request you to repair both AVG free and Steam client bootstrapper and check how it works. Refer this article: http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-repair-AVG to repair your AVG Antivirus free version.
