Shouldn't AVG logo show on my taskbar? Plus how do I know if AVG is working on my desktop ex. the color warnings?

May I know which AVG program you have installed on your PC?
If the icon is not on the taskbar then you might unpin it from the taskbar and you should be having a shortcut key to open the AVG program.
If you have accidentally deleted the shortcut key then please go to to "All programs" and search for AVG folder and you can find the AVG icon in it, right click on it and you can find the option to "send it to desktop", if you do this you can find the AVG shortcut icon on the desktop screen and by double clicking it you can get the AVG dashboard.
