AVG not allowing program internet access

It seems that you have searched the option on the Zen Interface. Could you please confirm whether you have installed the latest 2017 version? If so please use the instructions on the article http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-make-exclusions-from-all-scans-and-shields and check if it helps.

My Original question to the Forum is as below:
I've just installed AVG Free, and got Zen. It's currently blocking my newsreader, but I can't see how to allow it access. I've searched the internet, but all the solutions seem to be for other versions rather than Zen. Can someone tell me how to allow a program access please?

Please follow the steps http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-exclude-file-folder-or-website-from-AVG-scanning given in the article to add the file in the AVG Exception list. Please check the program after adding the file in the exception list whether you can open the app or not.

As suggested, I've entered the recommended web page, which instructs me to open the Options; advanced settings; exceptions route to add my newsreader. Unfortunately, there is no options in my copy of AVG. It just lists 'Device; On line support; help; and about AVG' - no options. Anything else I can do?

Unfortunatly the settings menu is missing from both the AVG software I installed, and the Zen software.
I Installed the file named 'Antivirus free X64-1818' downloaded from AVG 20th March 2017, which installed both AVG and AVG ZEN on my PC (build 1.161.2.61210) and both these programs only show 'Device Settings; Online Support; Help and about AVG' in the menu options. There is no general 'Settings' option showing. This means that I cannot follow the suggested instructions in the article.
