AVG not completing is virus scan on my Macbook Pro - OS X

Hello everyone, I am running OS X on my macbook pro. No matter how many times I remove and reinstall, update and close other programs while AVG is running, it will NEVER complete the antivirus scan. It stops around 69%, everytime. Anyone got any ideas??? Thanks, Jon.
