Thank you!
Earlier this year I had severe issues with my laptop (AVG free-version) but my desk top machine with (AVG paid for protection worked well).
So I called the AVG Premium Support 24x7 phone number as shown on the AVG website - this took me to UK Information Technology LTD based in Swindon (NOT AVG!!! ) but I did not know this during the initial phone conversation.
They took control of my laptop and diagnosed various infection issues. Advised me that I should send them a cheque for 'Lifetime complete antivirus etc. and I would never have to pay AVG for any further protection on any machine (even though I am still paying AVG for my desktop machine.
I was told that the cost for this 'Life Time 24 x 7 service on unlimited devices was £839.56 (THE COST OF A NEW LAPTOP)… Whilst I thought that was very costly given the 'Life Time' of this cover it appeared to be OK over a 20 year period or greater.
Having taken control of my machine - they promptly installed Kaspersky on my laptop - I asked the to remove Kaspersky and re-install AVG for me - and was told that Kaspersky offered better protection…
Why do AVG allow a 'Business Partner' or so called to install a competitors program? Absolute madness
Kaspersky … is now giving me a lot of problems with my laptop. I will not phone the AVG Premium Support 24 x 7 number again -as I don't want to deal with this RIP-OFF company.
I am now going to write to the BBC Rogue Traders researchers and report this to them.
Best regards,
Iain Jones
