AVG Protection not recognized by Win10?

Just noticed that the latest AVG Unlimited upgrade (12/21/17, ver 17.9.3040) is not properly communicating its status to Win10 Pro Windows Defender. It reports that status of AVG Firewall & Network Protection is unknown. Also, the status of Antivirus bounces back and forth from "Protected, no action required" to "Not Protected" to "Restart required."  What is going on and when will this be resolved?
