AVG Rescue USB Stick

I am trying to set up a AVG USB Rescue Disk but i have followed all the instructions and the download has confirmed that the usb is bootable

When i go into my bios boot setting pressing f2 and i set the usb stick as the first option to boot, i have to create a boot item, select usb but once ive done that i am giving lots of files and i dont know which one i select.

i have to select one or i cant ad it as a boot option.

I have also tried creating a bootable disk using a separate program and using the ISO image and that didnt work either. the usb stick was formated using FAT on every attempt

thanks in advance

Scott

Hi,

Thanks for this. The OP is aware of your most recent message.

"Hello Scott,
We never suggest customers to use Rescue CD without knowing the purpose of it.
Unfortunately it is not recommended to use rescue CD to run a scan outside of windows.
Thank you."

It may help if I first explain that I am a Senior Network Engineer that has at least 5 years experience with using the AVG Rescue Disc. With respect, serveral members of your staff have absolutely no full idea of what the rescue disc is used for and the misinformation that several of your staff has communicated is rife:

1) We were advised the rescue disc does not include a virus scanner and that other software was available from AVG for scanning outside of Windows - WRONG

2) We were advised that AVG Telephone and Online support staff are not trained in how to create a rescue USB Stick because they can only help with AVG Projects - WRONG

3) We were told only to use the AVG Rescue Disc in the case of situations where the laptop/PC did not boot = WRONG

Just to explain, I am fully familiar with Linux that you have used to allow for your Rescue project to be used outside of Windows. Please do not state:

"Hello Scott,
We never suggest customers to use Rescue CD without knowing the purpose of it."

based on your misunderstanding of how your own project works.

The instructions that were read to begin with (as per the above link) do not answer the question.

Please kindly respond further.

Many thanks.

Hi, We are still waiting for a reply to the previous post.
Many thanks.

Hello,
We are happy to assist you.
However we will recommend AVG rescue CD in the situations where users unable to reboot system after installing AVG.
Please refer this article here http://support.avg.com/SupportArticleView?urlname=How-to-use-AVG-Rescue-CD .
We would not recommend if you are trying to use this for a system without issues.
Thank you.

Hello Scott,
We  will assist you to create rescue CD.
Could you please let us know the purpose of creating AVG rescue CD?
Thank you.

Hello Scott,

It may help if I first explain that I am a Senior Network Engineer that has at least 5 years experience with using the AVG Rescue Disc, I have just never had cause to create a rescue USB before. With respect, serveral members of your staff have absolutely no full idea of what the rescue disc is used for and the misinformation that several of your staff has communicated is rife and seriously need to be dealt with:

1) We were advised that the rescue disc does not include a virus scanner and that other software was available from AVG for scanning outside of Windows - WRONG regarding it not including a Windows independent virus scanner.

2) We were advised that AVG Telephone and Online support staff are not trained in how to create a rescue USB Stick because they can only help with AVG Projects - WRONG because it is an AVG product.

3) We were told only to use the AVG Rescue Disc in the case of situations where the laptop/PC did not boot = WRONG - AVG does not always pick up and is not always able to resolve virus infections whilst Windows is running - I have just successfully used the rescue disc (unlike Scott I have a CD/DVD Drive) and I have successfully removed 2 serious viruses with 28 different manifestations using the disc even though my laptop could boot (all be it fairly slowly).

Just to explain, I am fully familiar with Linux that you have used as an independent platform for your Rescue disc offering to be used outside of Windows. Please do not state:

"Hello Scott,
We never suggest customers to use Rescue CD without knowing the purpose of it."

based on your misunderstanding of how your own project works. It seems that we understand its use better than a significant number of the technical support advisers.

The instructions that we read to begin with (as per the above link) do not answer the question.

Yeah sure, I wish to use it to run a scan outside of windows. I have been repeatedly asked for the purpose of why I wish to use it. Please could you avoid this question and please kindly and simply revert to answering the original question above.

For the community: I would be exceptionally grateful if you could kindly respond as the technical support so far has been abysmal.

Many thanks
