AVG ruined my computer

Hello David,
We apologize for the inconvenience. To assist you better, could you please let us know if you are able to restart the computer and able to see the login screen or the computer is completely black out? If you are able to see the login screen, please restart the computer thrice and see if you are able to get into safe mode of your computer.
Thank you.

I was having problems getting AVG to run and it wouldn't recognise my licence. I called customer services via live chat and was advised that my version was old and needed to be updated. They could do this remotely. I agreed to this and they began the process of removing the old version.
Lots of screens, moving cursors and then a black screen. Since the last 24 hours I've seen nothing else. I called them on the customer services landline. Basically, because my computer needed to be connected via a wire to the modem to test it in safe mode ( I don't have a 70' wire) they said they couldn't do anything.
I explained that the comp was working ok before I let them loose on it but, it was my fault. What was my fault? I'm still waiting to find out.
Called again today, spent hours on the phone only to be passed to the GOLD service dept, who referred me back because I wasn't paying for the service.
I am now having to have a mobile operator come to fix the computer at my expense. I have had not one bit of helpful information from them and they couldn't wait to get rid of me on the phone.
Disgusting service and a fault cursed entirely by them, yet I have no recourse and a probably large bill to pay later today. Wouldn't touch them with a barge pole again.
oh, and I'm paying for protection, I can't use
